Dedicated to helping people find creative solutions to their problems for over 30 years.
Wendy is a former President of the Tacoma-Pierce County Bar Association (TPCBA), served on the Board of the TPCBA for many years. Wendy also served as President of the TPCBA Family Law Section, and she is a founding member of the Collaborative Law Professionals of Pierce County and is President of that organization. She is past Secretary-Treasurer of the Old Town Business and Professionals Association and she continues to be active in that organization. She serves as Chancellor of Old St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Old Town, Tacoma.
I have been a lawyer for over twenty five years. From January 2011 to April 2013, I served as a Pierce County Superior Court Commissioner. I presided over family law, probate/estate, guardianship, mental illness, juvenile court, landlord tenant, mortgage foreclosure, and other matters. I chose to leave the bench and to return to private practice. I missed lawyering and directly helping others. My practice focuses on family law--primarily divorce, legal separation, and child custody. I represent clients in high-conflict litigation as well as in collaborative mediation. My prior experience as a social worker and my mediation skills are essential to helping others to handle stress and to focus on long-term goals.
Serving on the bench has sharpened my ability to present an objective perspective and to assist a potential client in evaluating outcomes. For those who are contemplating separation from their spouse, I provide a no cost half hour consultation to provide legal advice on community property law, our court system, the processes of divorce and legal separation, the available options (uncontested, contested-litigated, and contested collaborative), and the like. For those that contact me who already find themselves separated, or who need help in other areas (custody, parenting plan modifications, child support, contempt, paternity, etc.) I provide a half-hour consultation for no charge to explain the law, their options, and help them decide how to proceed.
I am a founding member of the Collaborative Law Professionals of Pierce County, and a former president of our county bar association. I continue to be involved with a variety of boards and committees. When I am not busy with clients or bar association activities, I enjoy time with my husband, my many pets, and my piano.
